SCHOLARSHIP
2026 RC Castro Jr Scholarship Recipient
Adelaide Shaffer
Adelaide Shaffer is a dedicated dancer and artist who will be pursuing a major in Dance with a minor in Graphic Design this fall at Liberty University. When she is not in the studio, Adelaide enjoys spending time with her family, watching her favorite movies and tv shows, and crafting various crochet trinkets. In addition to her own classes and training, she shares her passion for artistry by teaching pre-primary ballet at her local dance studio. More recently, Adelaide has found an additional love in community theater.
She has been blessed by getting to be part of the Masterworx community, where they have helped her grow as both a dancer and artist. Leading to this fall, Adelaide will be making her professional debut as a ballet dancer with Alluvion Stage Company. Adelaide aspires to become a professional dancer, artist, and actress. She is incredibly honored and deeply grateful to be the recipient of this year’s scholarship which will directly support her diverse academic and artistic journeys.

About the RC Castro Jr Scholarship
Masterworx Community Theater is pleased to announce a new scholarship in memory of Roque Carlos Castro Jr, the late father of Michelle Velastegui. In supporting the educational plans of a young creative, Masterworx honors Mr. Castro’s love of music, dance, laughter, and community.
Beginning in the spring of 2025, the RC Castro Jr Scholarship annually awards funds to a high school senior seeking to further their education at the college or university level, or professional development through coursework/lessons, either private or group. The cash award may be applied toward tuition, room and board, books, or private or group courses or lessons.
Applications for the 2026 award are closed for this year.
